A Farm That Overcame Disaster and Keeps Moving Forward
Yamamoto in Miyagi Prefecture is a leading strawberry producing region in Tohoku. Sansanen has been growing strawberries here for more than half a century.
In 2011, the Great East Japan Earthquake devastated the farm. Still, we decided to revive the town with strawberries.
Today we handle strawberry growing, processing, tourism farm and café operations as a premium Japanese strawberry brand, serving buyers in Japan and abroad.
Sansanen History
Started strawberry farming in Yamamoto, Miyagi
Started strawberry farming utilizing the mild climate and rich soil.
Devastated by the Great East Japan Earthquake
The farm was severely damaged but we resolved to rebuild, beginning the path to recovery with the community.
Resumed ripe strawberry production and developed processed products
Rebuilt the farm and launched processed products like Ichigori, Ichigo Yukimochi and Ripe Strawberry Smoothie.
Expanded tourism farm, café and department store distribution
Reaching the local community through the tourism farm and café. Through wholesale to department stores, premium fruit shops and hotels, Sansanen strawberries are delivered both domestically and internationally.
Strengthening overseas expansion including Taiwan
Through international trade shows like FOOD TAIPEI, we deliver to Taiwan food distributors, hotels, cafés, department stores and restaurants.
